WHAT EXACTLY ARE SINGLE RIDER LINES?
Some may misunderstand the term “Single Rider” and think it means you can’t enter the line with anyone you know. Single Rider Lines at Disney Parks are established for attractions where there is a frequent need to fill individual seats or rows on ride vehicles.
In the regular lines, Disney ensures that groups stay together when boarding rides, which can sometimes result in empty seats when a group has an odd number. Single Rider Lines are designed for individuals who are willing to ride separately from their party to fill those empty seats.
HOW TO UTILIZE A SINGLE RIDER LINE AT DISNEY PARKS
First, it’s important to note that you must be at least 7 years old to use the Single Rider Line. However, not all 7-year-olds may feel comfortable riding alone, so keep that in mind.
Enter the Single Rider Line as a Group:
The four attractions offering Single Rider Lines have separate entrances clearly marked near the Standby and Lightning Lane entrances. Expedition Everest’s Single Rider line can be a bit tricky to find, but it’s located to the left of the gift shop entrance, and Cast Members can assist if needed. While you can enter as a group, expect to be split up when it’s time to board the attraction. Sometimes you might end up on separate rows, while other times you might be on entirely different ride cycles, so be prepared to reunite after the ride.
Navigate the Queue as a Group:
As you move through the queue, if you entered as a group, you’ll remain together. However, Single Rider Lines, like Lightning Lanes, may bypass some of the interactive elements in the regular queue. For instance, Test Track’s Single Riders skip the part where you design a car to test. If these queue experiences matter to you, you might want to consider skipping Single Rider.
Board the Attraction (Where You’ll Be Split Up):
The actual separation occurs when it’s time to board. Single Rider Lines operate by having riders stand and wait until a Cast Member announces, “Single Rider needed in line XXX.” The next person in line fills that spot. Pay attention because there isn’t much time between the announcement and the start of the ride. They keep things moving swiftly!
