Adventureland Treehouse Reopens at Disneyland

Share

On November 10th, 2023, the Adventureland Treehouse welcomed visitors with a familiar façade but an entirely new narrative. Nestled on the outskirts of Adventureland, this tree serves as the residence for an unnamed family, drawing inspiration from the Swiss Family Robinson. Unlike its predecessor, this attraction doesn’t introduce specific characters, but instead invites guests to explore the intricately designed rooms of the family’s custom-built treehouse, offering breathtaking views from its elevated vantage point.

Similar to the Swiss Family and Tarzan renditions of the attraction, guests will encounter various rooms showcasing the family’s resourceful use of recycled materials to furnish their lofty abode. The entire structure is ingeniously powered by a functional water wheel and pulley system—a marvel of engineering!

Although it may resemble a rebirth of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, it’s important to note that this incarnation is inspired by the original but features an entirely new family and storyline. Each family member has a distinct space within or around the tree, reflecting their individual interests and skills. Throughout the attraction, keen-eyed visitors will discover subtle Easter eggs and tie-ins to the Swiss Family Robinson, Tarzan, and the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.).

The completion of this attraction, which took over two years after the closure of the Tarzan Treehouse, was not without its challenges. The aging structure necessitated extensive renovations, requiring a new generation of Imagineers to upgrade it to meet contemporary safety guidelines and audience expectations. Every prop was meticulously crafted from scratch to ensure a captivating and secure experience for today’s visitors.
